Feb 5, 2010 Super Bowl Weekend Blizzard - Beginning of the storm. We've had 2 twelve inch snowstorms already, and a smaller 6 inch storm. This is what is left after the last 12 incher and 6 incher melted.
But it really doesn't deserve that title. Because "The Snow" was the Blizzard of 1996 that dumped just shy of two feet of snow on us. See that lawn tractor in the tool shed ... I spent most of the day on Monday finishing up attaching the snow plow to it and then the blamed thing wouldn't start because of the cold. The tail edge of the storm had just passed about 30 minutes prior to this shot.
So I was looking at shoveling My Driveway but decided I didn't need THAT much exercise.
The Moss House at Green Springs Garden Park in Alexandria, VA. ( History here )
I loved the red of the winter berries against the fine blue sky. Used the 24-105mm IS f4 L lens with a circular polarizer.
P.S. There's probably a bird in this shot somewhere :) UPDATE: No bird, but there is a squirrel!
Tstorms are so much better in Texas and Oklahoma. Here in Maryland, you normally have too many trees to deal with, or you don't see lightning until the torrential rain starts. Got lucky with this storm moving down the river on the opposite bank.
"I am a Camera" - Into the Lens - Drama, YES
LadyKate asked for a self-potrait, and while I am no schmoo or Alex, I'm completely uninhibited and willing to strut my stuff at a moment's notice. So I popped my head out of the blind for a brief SP, as requested :)
Reduced contrast a whole bunch, reduced vividness a lot, recropped radically. Been experimenting with strong outdoor lighting on subjects other than birds ... y'all are helping alot with the comments :)
A Salty Dog.
He/she was having fun riding the bow of a cabin cruiser :)

Tough exposure, blew the highlights on the fetlocks.

I was actually thinking about jumping into the LPS waters this go round. Strong eough entry for the Flash/Ambient challenge? (No is a perfectly valid answer!)
I put the original behind this in the gallery for reference.
