Tufted Titmouse, yet again.
Tried a different exposure method. I normally just use the on-board light metering and let it decide (with maybe some exposure comp in AV mode). But read about the ETR (Expose to the Right) method and gave it a try. This method invloves using manual mode and the RGB histogram to determine exposure. Here I took a few test shots at a specific aperture (f5.6 wide open for the 100-400 L) and adjusted the shutter speed and ISO until the RGB histogram was as far to the right as possible without clipping any of the channels. I still ended up pushing the exposure up a bit in post but I'll have to play with this method some more. I tend to underexpose quite frequently when relying on the built in light metering.
It supposedly helps with noise and seemed to do the job.
